What counts as a dental emergency?

  • Severe toothache

    Pain that keeps you awake or does not settle with over-the-counter pain relief.

  • A knocked-out adult tooth

    Time matters. Call immediately.

  • A broken or cracked tooth

    Sharp edges, pain on biting, or a large piece missing.

  • Swelling in the face or gum

    Existing patients

    Regular emergency assessment from £55, excluding any treatment required and X-rays.

  • 02

    New patients

    New patient emergency assessment from £180, excluding any treatment required and X-rays.

    Out of hours

    When the practice is closed, call NHS 111 for urgent dental advice.

When to call 999

Call 999 or go to A&E if you have facial swelling that affects your breathing, swallowing or vision, bleeding that will not stop with pressure, or a facial injury with a possible head injury.
